Produced exclusively from the Syrah variety, it reveals the enormous potential of this variety in a special and challenging climate that only Serpa provides.
Its name is inspired by the Carthusian Monks who, since 1598, have practiced a solitary prayer life at the Monastery of Cartuxa, in Évora, owned by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation. As a way to revive one of the traditional ways of producing wines at Adega Cartuxa, located at Quinta de Valbom, where quality wines have been produced for over two centuries, the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation presents this red wine made in old clay carvings.
The grape Syrah, together with modern tecnology and a careful maturing process, have resulted in this magnificent nectar, made with a variety of the Lisboa region and prestige of its name.
Syrah and Alicante produced on strong soil of Beja contrast in a concentrated profile where the notes of black pepper and plum are integrated in the toasting of the oak barrels. The mouth is long and very soft.
In the glass the Shyrah and Tinta Roriz displays big aromas of black cherry, cassis, cacoa powder and plum and flavors of cassis, black cherry and plum along with soft, integrated tannins.
