Description
Deep purple black at the centre with a narrow red brick rim. The first impression is of ripe red berry fruit with aromas of raspberry and strawberry. The nose is beginning to open up, with herbaceous and spicy inflexions emerging in the glass. Scents of black tea and elderflower merge with notes of sawn wood and rose petal. Although still youthful and intense, the wine is beginning to display the subtle, nuanced character which comes with maturity. Round and full bodied, with a velvety texture, the palate is supported by dense, muscular tannins. Rich black fruit flavours persist into the long succulent finish. A beautifully balanced LBV, with a fruity complexity which reveals its shared heritage with the great classic Fonseca Vintage Ports.
